Oleksiy Danilov: Ukraine’s aviation industry needs a long-term state aviation program and provision of domestic enterprises with state orders

Chaired by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov, a meeting on the development of Ukraine’s aviation industry was held. Representatives of the major enterprises in the industry, in particular, President of the SE “Antonov”, Director of the SE “Ivchenko-Progress”, President of “Motor Sich” JSC, Director of Kharkiv State Aviation Association, Chairman of the Board of “FED” PJSC, Director of the SE “Konotop Aircraft Repair Plant “AVIAKON”, employees of the Staff of the NSDC of Ukraine participated in the meeting.

According to representatives of the aviation industry, the SC “Ukroboronprom” has shown insufficient efficiency in managing state aviation enterprises, and the hasty corporatization of separate enterprises without taking into account the principles of state military-industrial policy can lead to negative consequences. In this context, it is important to provide enterprises with state orders, preserve labor collectives, and attract investment in modern domestic developments.

The NSDC Secretary stressed the urgency of introducing the post of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Defense-Industrial Policy.

Considering the issue of reforming the SC “Ukroboronprom”, Mr. Danilov warned against rash decisions and stressed the need to preserve the unique national production, scientific base, and qualified personnel.

Representatives of aircraft manufacturers noticed particularly that in the conditions of war with Russia, they themselves managed to ensure 100% alignment of documentation on the production of major aircraft models.

In this context, the NSDC Secretary noted that the domestic aviation school is truly unique, and stressed that Ukrainian aviation enterprises have succeeded in import-substituting of critical knowledge-intensive aircraft components.

Mr. Danilov also emphasized the need to develop a long-term state aviation program and provision of domestic enterprises with state orders.
