Deputy NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Solovyov got acquainted with the readiness of the Zhytomyr region to prevent the introduction and spread of coronavirus

Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Solovyov participated in the meeting on preventing the introduction and spread of acute respiratory disease caused by the new coronavirus held in the Zhytomyr regional state administration.

The parties discussed the level of readiness of the region for a possible coronavirus epidemic.

According to Head of the regional state administration Vitaliy Bunechko and Head of the department of health care of the RSA Mykola Suslyk, on February 13 this year, a provisional regional anti-epidemic commission under the regional state administration had been established in the region and a regional plan of anti-epidemic measures for prevention of COVID-19 introduction and spread on the territory of the region had been developed. Hospital bases to receive patients were chosen, the medical staff of the region were instructed and provided with individual protection means – respirators, protective masks, goggles and biosuits, transport routes for two medical teams were developed.

Specialists of the regional laboratory center, which is equipped with biosuits and special medical transport, will be the first to contact the patients in the center of the disease if the disease is detected in the territory of the region.

It is also planned to allocate 1,79 million hryvnias from the reserve fund of the regional budget to purchase additional protectors.

The staff of the Zhytomyr border guard squad of the State Border Guard Service is also provided with personal protective equipment – contactless thermometers, protective masks and respirators, and goggles. All arriving citizens are checked at the border checkpoints with the Republic of Belarus.
