The state of implementing defense review measures has been considered and discussed at the Staff of the NSDC of Ukraine
Chaired by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov, an interagency meeting on defense issues was held at the Staff of the NSDC of Ukraine; during the meeting, the state of implementing defense review measures was considered and discussed among other issues.
First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Ivan Rusnak informed the participants of the meeting that on December 12 the final meeting of the Interagency Working Group on Defense Review had been held under the Presidential Decree of May 16, 2019 № 225/2019 "On the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of May 16, 2019 "On the organization of planning in the security and defense sector of Ukraine".
According to Mr. Rusnak, the following tasks were accomplished during the review: assessment of the threats to national security and the prospects for the development of the security environment; forces and resources planning; development of a promising model for building defense, the Armed Forces and other components of the defense forces.
According to the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, the report on the results of the defense review was sent yesterday to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and after consideration at a government session, it will be submitted to the Staff of the NSDC of Ukraine.
The participants of the meeting noticed that the results of the review will become the basis for the development of the Military Security Strategy of Ukraine, the Strategic Defense Bulletin of Ukraine, the State Program for the Development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Defense Plan of Ukraine.
During the meeting, which was attended by First Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Mykhailo Koval, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and heads of relevant departments of the NSDC Staff, other topical national security issues were covered, in particular, regarding the implementation of the "Sapsan" program, "Neptune" and "Vilkha" projects.
