Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies Oleksandr Lytvynenko was presented to the NISS staff

On August 15, Head of the Staff of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Dniprov introduced the new Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies Oleksandr Lytvynenko.

Oleksandr Lytvynenko was appointed Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies by Presidential Decree №599/2019. According to the Decree, the appointment was made to strengthen the analytical and prognostic support of the President of Ukraine, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in the field of national security of the state, scientific support of solving foreign policy issues, economic, social and socio-political development of Ukraine, creation of organizational conditions for modernization and functioning of the National Institute for Strategic Studies.

The decree also assigns the Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies to submit within two months proposals for reforming and development strategy of the Institute, providing for its reorganization and staffing reduction.

In his speech, Mr. Lytvynenko identified the priority areas of the Institute's activity, in particular, in the field of defense research, external security, de-occupation of temporarily seized territories, economic and cyber security studies. He also expressed gratitude to the staff of the Institute, emphasizing that given his experience, including at the Institute for Strategic Studies, people working in it have always been the most important thing.
