A meeting of the expert group on protecting national interests in the energy sphere took place under the chairmanship of Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk held a meeting of the expert group on protecting national interests in the energy sphere.
According to Mr. Danyliuk, the issue of energy security is "an important direction, from which the development of a new National Security Strategy begins".
During the meeting, the members of the expert group discussed the state and problematic issues of reforming the natural gas market of Ukraine, the separation by January 1, 2020, of the activities of the Naftogaz of Ukraine in accordance with the requirements of the European Union (unbundling).
The experts also considered the prospects of natural gas supply to domestic consumers and the functioning of Ukraine's gas transportation system.
The next expert group meeting is expected to be followed by proposals to include in the draft NSDC decision on energy security.
The expert group on protecting national interests in the energy sphere in the context of urgent threats to Ukraine's national security was established following the results of the meeting of the members of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on May 31, 2019.
