The NSDC Secretary took part in celebrations on the occasion of the Day of the Naval Forces of Ukraine

On July 7, 2019, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk participated in the celebration of the Day of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the holding of the Ukrainian-American Command and Staff Training See Breeze - 2019.

In his welcoming speech to the Day of the Naval Forces, Mr. Danyliuk noted that 26 years ago the Ukrainian flag was raised on the "Hetman Sahaidachny" ship. "It was, in fact, the second birthday of Ukraine's finest warship. In 2014, his captain will remain faithful to Ukraine and refuse to enter Sevastopol despite Russian pressure.

Then, during the annexation of Crimea, according to the Navy, our fleet lost 80% of its assets and capabilities. During the war, 60 soldiers were killed and 24 sailors captured. After such a backstab it is difficult to recover, but together with our military and international partners we are doing our best for the Ukrainian Navy to develop as fast as possible", - Mr. Danyliuk stressed.

The President of Ukraine and the NSDC Secretary also got acquainted with the Ukrainian-American Command and Staff Training See Breeze - 2019, during which 27 ships from 19 countries are working out the marine component. Over 3000 participants are trained by NATO standards, which our military also follow. "Such experience is necessary to move forward. Only by learning the best will our fleet become competitive", - the NSDC Secretary stated.

Reference: From July 1 to 12, 2019, nearly 3000 servicemen from Ukraine and 18 other countries will participate in the Sea Breeze - 2019. The training takes place in four stages. The main efforts during the training are directed to working out control and protection of maritime communications, and vital coastal infrastructure.
