Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine Yagmur Ahmet Guldere.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the situation in the Black Sea basin as a result of Russia's aggression.

"Occupation of the Crimea has changed the parity of forces in the Black Sea basin", - the NSDC Secretary said stressing that Russian aggressive politics in the region is ongoing, which can be as evidenced by Russia's attempts to block Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov and capture our ships in the Kerch Strait.

The interlocutors also paid attention to the deepening of bilateral military-technical cooperation. The NSDC Secretary stressed that our states have many promising directions of cooperation in the military-technical sphere, in particular, in matters of the issues of strategic importance for the defense of both countries.

In his turn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine Yagmur Ahmet Guldere emphasized that Turkey "does not recognize the illegal occupation of the Crimea and is concerned about the situation in the Black Sea".

According to him, Turkey considers defense-industrial cooperation with Ukraine not only in the context of trade relations. "We see a strong potential in establishing and developing joint projects and enterprises", - he noticed.

"We believe that a strong self-sufficient Ukraine can be the best partner for Turkey on the northern coast of the Black Sea and are ready to support you along this path", - Mr. Guldere stressed.
