Production of modern and effective weapons is impossible without fundamental research. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov at the opening of the exhibition-presentation of scientific and technical developments and technologies of the institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine "Science for Defense and Security of the State", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, on Thursday in Kyiv.
The results of work the academic research institutions and the joint development of Ukrainian scientists with the enterprises of the SC "Ukroboronprom" and the "League of Defense Enterprises of Ukraine" were presented at the exhibition.
According to M. Turchynov, the introduction of scientific research and innovation in the production of new weapons and military equipment is "the only way to build a reliable system of defense of the country and provide the army with modern weapons and military equipment".
"The exhibition will become a platform for working out of new cooperation programs between scientists of the National Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the State Space Agency and the State Concern "Ukroboronprom", as well as private enterprises of the defense-industrial complex", - he said.
In the opinion of the Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine, the developments presented at this exhibition should be highly appreciated by our military: "This refers to a fundamentally new armor for our tanks and armored personnel carriers, anti-missile systems, and new masking materials that allow you to remain invisible even in the infrared light spectrum, and many other inventions that will significantly strengthen our defense potential".
According to him, it is noteworthy that the opening of the exhibition takes place on the day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "in fact, this exhibition is the greeting from the scientists to our glorious warriors with their professional holiday".
"In order to counteract the military aggression of a violent and powerful enemy, courage, professionalism, and patriotism of our soldiers and officers are not enough; they need new modern effective weapons and military equipment, which is impossible without deep research and development", - Oleksandr Turchynov noted.
"Without mobilizing the scientific potential of the nation, without turning the country's brain into a powerful weapon, we will not be able to win this war. This is a major problem and a priority task", - he concluded.
