Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with Chairman of the National Defense Committee of the Parliament of Estonia Hannes Hanso

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov held a meeting with Chairman of the National Defense Committee of the Parliament of Estonia Hannes Hanso.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the security situation in Europe in the context of Russa's aggression against Ukraine.

According to Mr. Turchynov, Russia's aggression against our country has been ongoing for the fifth year in a row. "The Russian side, completely ignoring the Minsk agreements, shells our positions using prohibited weapons, further builds up military forces and equipment along the Ukrainian border", - he said.

Also, the NSDC Secretary informed about the escalation of Russia's aggressive policy in the Azov-Black Sea basin. "Russia's military component in the Sea of ​​Azov is intensifying", - he noticed adding that, in turn, Ukraine increases its military presence in the region to protect itself. "In particular, a ship-naval grouping of the Naval Forces of Ukraine has been created in the Sea of Azov", - Mr. Turchynov noted.

"Despite Russia's aggression", - the NSDC Secretary pointed out, - we continue to reform the security and defense sector according to NATO standards not losing time".

In addition, the issues of intensifying bilateral military-technical cooperation and expending cooperation between the special services of our countries were considered during the negotiations.

During the conversation, considerable attention was also paid to the issue of extending sanctions against the Russian Federation by the EU countries and the problem of constructing the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which poses a threat to both the Ukrainian and European energy systems.

In his turn, Mr. Hanso assured that Estonia holds to the stance of loyalty to support the European course of Ukraine.
