Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine O. Turchynov met with Estonian Parliamentarians

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Estonia, Marko Mihkelson, and members of the Parliament of Estonia.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine created by Russian aggression, and the issues of the aggression's various forms (info, cyber, etc.).

"We do not see any Putin's attempt to stop the armed conflict in the east, on the contrary, the Russian Federation is sparing no effort to continue the escalation of the conflict by increasing its military presence along the Ukrainian-Russian border", said the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

According to O. Turchynov, Russia is a country where terrorism became a form of the state foreign policy. "Not only aggression against Ukraine proves it, but also chemical attack in Salisbury and hybrid technologies of influencing the political situation in many Western countries", he said, adding that any mitigation of the attitude towards Russia would be considered a victory by the Kremlin.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine stressed that a consistent and unified position of the EU regarding the prolongation of sanctions against the Russian Federation is important for our state. "At the same time, the continuation of the construction of the "North Stream" is seriously detrimental to the economy and security of Ukraine. It is completely contrary to the sanction policy and weakens the energy and economic security of Europe", he added.

Interlocutors also discussed intensification of military-technical cooperation with EU countries, in particular, joint projects in the defense-industrial complex. "Ukraine is a shield of Europe, so strengthening our defensive positions is, in fact, strengthening the defense and security of Europe", O. Turchynov emphasized.

In his turn, M. Mihkelson emphasized that Estonia is a reliable friend of Ukraine and "will always fully support your country at both European and North Atlantic Alliance levels".
