The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov greeting on the occasion of the Ukrainian National Police Day
I sincerely congratulate the National Police personnel on the occasion of their professional holiday!
You were the first among the security and defense sector forces who boldly went through fundamental changes and reforms. In a short time, instead of the "Soviet" police, Ukraine has received the National Police - a European quality force that is not inferior to the best law enforcement agencies of the world's leading countries! Ukrainians are proud of their National Police and trust it.
Your story did not start in the cozy offices, but in the east of the country, where hastily armed special battalions together with the National Guard and the Armed Forces have stopped Russian aggression on the battlefield. At the cost of many patriots' lives, we were able to restore our Armed Forces and the defense potential of Ukraine. It is very important that the volunteers who have gone to the front in the turbulent days of 2014 are now serving in the ranks of the National Police. Eternal memory and honor to the heroes who performed their duty to the last!
In just a few years, the system infrastructure of the entire National Police was established, its technical support was organized, and new law enforcement and special units were raised. But you still have a lot of problems to deal with and challenges to meet.
In the difficult conditions of military confrontation and hybrid warfare, the National Police is to provide reliable protection for Ukrainians from criminals both in the streets and in cyberspace, to protect the country's tranquility from provocations and foreign special services attempts to destabilize the situation. You are the guarantors of the calm and peaceful life of our citizens, of their rights and property, of the rule of law in cities and villages.
So I wish you good health, well-being, inexhaustible energy and new professional achievements! May the Lord protect you and your families!
Happy Holidays!
