Information security problem should be addressed at the legislative level urgently, - O.Turchynov

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov states that there are no legal and technical capabilities for prompt response to information threats in Ukraine, so this problem is to be addressed urgently at the legislative level.

"The Security Service of Ukraine had to isolate the Russian information resources from the sanctions lists over a period of several months. Why? We do not have a technology for disrupting operation of this or that resource, even when it poses a real threat to the security of the country. That is, after the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, the Security Service urged the providers to implement this decision", O.Turchynov told Interfax-Ukraine in an exclusive interview.

He noted that even after the SBU's recommendations had been implemented by the providers, there were many ways to circumvent the sanctions and access the resources that continue information aggression against Ukraine.

"That is, in order to react promptly to information threats, there are no legal and, accordingly, logistical capabilities. This problem should be solved urgently at the legislative level. And this does not mean an onslaught against freedom of speech. This is due to national security concerns", said the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
