O. Turchynov: It is only possible to counteract Russia’s disinformation with truth, and here the diaspora’s assistance is vital

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov held a meeting with President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) Eugene Czolij.

During the meeting, the interlocutors focused on Russia's ongoing military aggression in the East of Ukraine. According to Mr. Turchynov, Russian occupational groupings shell our territories on a daily basis, using heavy weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements.

"All the facts indicate that Putin is not going to stop aggression. His goal is to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, to exhaust our country, to break resilience, and to strengthen his influence on Europe, splitting the unity of European countries", - Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine said.

Moreover, the parties discussed the devastating impact of the construction of "Nord Stream 2" on Ukraine's economy and security, as well as on Europe's energy security. "The matter of principle is the prolongation of sanctions against Russia until the complete liberation of the seized Ukrainian territories of Donbas and the Crimea", - Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine noted.

Also, according to Mr. Turchynov, it is essential to inform about the large-scale changes taking place in Ukraine, because "it dispels informational propaganda of the Russian Federation, which is an element of the hybrid war waged not only against our state but also against all civilized countries of the world".

"In this regard, the diaspora's assistance is vital - to convey the truth about Russian aggression, about Russia as a terrorist state, which understands only the language of force", - Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine emphasized.

In his turn, Mr. Czolij stressed that the diaspora is making every effort to support Ukraine and counter Russian propaganda. He said that the UWC would launch the "Red Card" campaign. "The red card will be handed to those Western politicians who, despite that their countries imposed sanctions against Russia will decide to go to the FIFA World Cup to Russia", - he reported.
