A meeting of Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov with the representatives of the UK defense and security sector took place

A meeting of Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov with the representatives of the UK defense and security sector took place. During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of enhancing cooperation between our countries in the defense and security sector, the intensification of cooperation in information and cyber security.

Moreover, the interlocutors discussed the situation in Ukraine which has developed as a result of the hybrid war waged against our country by the Russian Federation. In this context, the parties acknowledged that until the territorial integrity of Ukraine is not restored it is impossible to ease the sanctions pressure on the aggressor state.

In addition, Oleksandr Turchynov stressed that we are united with Britain by far more than a strategic partnership. "I want to remind that when the Budapest Memorandum was being signed, the United Kingdom together with the US and Russia became the guarantors of our security", - he said adding that the active position of the UK and the US would help to speed up the resolution of the issue of de-occupation of Ukrainian territory seized by Russia.

According to Mr. Turchynov, Russia is waging war not only against Ukraine but against Europe as well, using hybrid methods to destroy western countries from within. "We understand that you have accumulated a lot of experience in countering the aggressor in all security areas. I am confident that in this field, our countries have a lot to learn from each other", - Director General, Consular and Security at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Philip Barton said noticing that "we are aware of the threat that Russia poses to Ukraine and Europe as a whole".
