Oleksandr Turchynov: The court decision to transfer to the State Budget of Ukraine 1,5 billion US dollars came into force today

Today, the court decision to transfer to the State Budget of Ukraine 1,5 billion US dollars, arrested on the accounts of the former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage, came into force. This was reported by Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov and Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko at a briefing in "Oschadbank", where the bank's management was being informed about this.

According to Oleksandr Turchynov, the top management of "Oschadbank" started to implement the court decision and together with the State Treasury are issuing the money on state accounts.

Mr. Turchynov reminded that half a year ago an epic was taking place in the Parliament when on the initiative of "Serhiy Pashinsky, Ivan Vinnik, Tetyana Chornovil and others, the draft law on special confiscation was submitted, and the Verkhovna Rada refused to vote on it".

"Given that the Verkhovna Rada has failed to make this decision, I want to thank Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko personally, for that they have professionally worked out this case without excess PR and ultimately achieved not just a decision on provisional confiscation but the court verdict, the final decision on transferring this money to the accounts of the State Treasury - to the State Budget of Ukraine", - Oleksandr Turchynov said.

Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine called this court decision an overriding one, because "these resources are expected to provide financing for the State Defense Order, subjects of the security and defense sector". "Moreover, I am confident that apart from security and defense a substantial amount of this money could be used to fund major social programs, social protection of our citizens", - he summarized.
