Oleksandr Turchynov held a meeting with the heads of the power block of the Republic of Poland

On April 14, during his visit to the Republic of Poland, NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov held meetings with the Minister of National Defense of Poland Antoni Macierewicz, Minister Coordinator of Special Services of Poland Mariusz Kamiński, head of the National Security Bureau of Poland Paweł Soloch, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Poland General Mieczysław Gocuł, head of the Internal Security Agency Professor Dariush Luchak and the head of the Intelligence Agency Colonel Maciej Hunia.

The parties discussed the issues of aggravation of the situation in the East of Ukraine and Russia's attempts to disrupt the peaceful process of resolving the conflict. The interlocutors paid significant attention to the forms and methods of countering Russia's aggression in the conditions of hybrid war, unleashed by it. The process of reforming of the defense and security sector of Ukraine, its transition to NATO standards and functioning of the joint Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian brigade were also discussed in the course of the talks. Moreover, the issues of cooperation between defense agencies and secret services of Ukraine and Poland as well as the areas of military-technical cooperation between our countries were also considered. "This is one of the top-priority questions of my visit", - NSDC Secretary emphasized, adding that cooperation in the military-technical sphere will strengthen Ukraine and Poland.

"Ukrainian and Polish military-industrial complexes have already launched serious strategic programs, implementation of which will significantly strengthen defense and security of our states", - Oleksandr Turchynov stressed.

He also stressed the importance of building a common system of protection of Europe against threats at sea, on land and in the air. An important step in this direction, according to him, will be the signing of the prepared Ukrainian-Polish intergovernmental treaty on cooperation in the defense sphere. NSDC Secretary expressed hope that the abovementioned treaty will be signed in the nearest future.

Moreover, Minister of National Defense of Poland Antoni Macierewicz in the course of the meeting emphasized the critical importance of cooperation between our countries, "complete coincidence of assessments of military-political situation", pointed out the necessity of intensification of practical cooperation in the defense sector.

In his turn, Paweł Soloch stressed that the importance of Ukraine for the security of not only the region but also of the whole of Europe "is obvious both for Poland and for our partners from NATO".

"We hold our ground: secure Ukraine is the key to Europe's security", - head of the National Security Bureau of Poland concluded.
