Oleksandr Turchynov: the National Guard protects Ukraine both at the front and deep in the rear

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov in New Petrivtsi visited a memorable place of servicemen of the military unit № 3027 of the National Guard of Ukraine, who died while carrying out their military duty.

Oleksandr Turchynov had a talk with the mother of the fallen fighter Vadim Naumov and visited the Museum of Remembrance of servicemen, killed at the front, who served in this unit. Personal belongings of the fallen fighters are being kept at the museum as exhibits.

While talking to the fighters, Oleksandr Turchynov called the unit № 3027 a "heroic one", noting that the fighters of the National Guard were "first to take the blow of the enemy" two years ago. "The courage and heroism of national guardsmen forever recorded into the history of Ukraine's military glory", ‑ he emphasized, noting that 72 fighters of unit № 3027 were killed at the battlefield, and 245 ‑ injured.

"The guardsmen, ‑ NSDC Secretary stated, ‑ protect Ukraine both at the front and deep in the rear. They are on station, protecting lives and tranquillity of citizens."

Oleksandr Turchynov reminded that on 31 of August last year "near Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine three guardsmen of this very military unit were killed by the hands of terrorists and 32 ‑ were injured". "With their lives, their blood, dignity and courage national guardsmen defended the Constitution and parliamentarism", ‑ he stressed. ‑ Eternal memory to the heroes, who gave their lives for our country!"

As was reported earlier, on Friday NSDC Secretary of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov and the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Yuriy Allerov visited the new Training center for snipers of the National Guard of Ukraine in New Petrivtsi. Mr. Turchynov handed over to the military the first batch of experimental sniper rifles, produced by State Company "Ukrboronservis".

NSDC Secretary of Ukraine also participated in range practice of the snipers, who tested the newly received weapons. Upon completion of testing the fighters stated that rifles of domestic production are better than the Russian equivalent ‑ SVD (Dragunov sniper rifle).
