NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov held a meeting with heads of Parliaments of North European and Baltic states.

In the course of the meeting the interlocutors discussed the current situation in the region, paying attention to the events, taking place in the East of Ukraine.

According to Mr. Turchynov, Ukraine "was able to stop the advance of Russian occupation troops to the West".

"At the same time, despite of the Minsk agreements, the Russian aggression doesn't stop. The occupation of the Crimea and part of Donbas is ongoing. Shellings of our territory is carried out daily", - he stated.

Also Mr. Turchynov emphasized that Russia continues to wage a hybrid war not only on Ukraine, but also on the EU. According to him, the Russian bombardments in Syria, destruction of civilian infrastructure led to "the enhancing of migration waves to the West". "As a result, weapons, terrorists get to the EU, socio-economic destabilization is taking place, etc.", - he added.

In addition, NSDC Secretary thanked the heads of Parliaments of North European and Baltic states for their distinct position and support of Ukraine, "which we feel constantly". In his conviction, the sanctions should not be a temporary campaign, "they should be considered for, at least, the medium term, till the cease of occupation and restoration of the complete territorial integrity of Ukraine".

In their turn, Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Althing of Republic of Iceland Einar Kristinn Guðfinnsson, Speaker of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden Urban Ahlin and Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Latvia Inese Lībiņa-Egnere during their speeches expressed support to Ukraine and condemned the aggression of the Russian Federation. In addition, the interlocutors discussed issues of multilateral cooperation and possible assistance to Ukraine.

"We support the sovereignty and indivisibility of the territory of Ukraine and are ready to second it in implementing reforms and advancing on a way to European home", - Speaker of Lithuanian Seimas Loreta Graužinienė stressed.
