Oleksandr Turchynov: Ukrainian weapons should not be inferior to foreign analogues, but are to be superior to them

Today at the proving ground of the National Guard in Petrivtsi experts-instructors of "KORD" as well as of special purpose units of the National Guard conducted a selection of best samples weapons of Ukrainian production for their units. This was stated by NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov at a briefing after examination of armament samples presented at the National Guard proving ground and verification firing.

According to him, now, when formation of special purpose unit of National Police "KORD" and of special purpose brigade of the National Guard is taking place, "it is extremely important so the guys, who will at first pass a very careful selection and then a complicated professional training, would be armed with modern and effective weapons.

In Oleksandr Turchynov judgment, Ukrainian manufacturers are able to provide the newly created units with weapons, "which should not be inferior in the competition to samples of leading world gunsmiths".

"We need to look at weapons not only as at means of solving a combat task, but also as a way to enhance the prestige of the country and strengthening its economic potential. Manufacture of weapons - it is always working businesses, jobs, income of citizens and of the state budget", - NSDC Secretary said, adding that the usage of Ukrainian weapons by our soldiers will be the best advertisement for it and a major factor for promoting its export.

Exactly from this angle we should approach the issue of arming of our units. The main requirement for weapons - it must not be inferior to foreign analogues and, preferably, should excel them", - Oleksandr Turchynov concluded.
