A meeting of the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov with the delegation of the EU Political and Security Committee, headed by its chairman Walter Stevens took place.
During the meeting the parties discussed issues of reforming of defense and security sector in our country. In this context, Oleksandr Turchynov thanked for the support, "which is provided by our strategic partners in the EU in this regard".
Also, the interlocutors discussed the situation in the East of Ukraine and in Crimea. NSDC Secretary stressed that it will be possible to speak about the cease of Russian aggression only "when the last Russian soldier will be withdrawn as from the East of Ukraine, so from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea".
"We hope that the issue of cessation of Russian aggression in the East of Ukraine and in Crimea will not be set aside by our strategic partners, as this is the aggression not only against our country, this is the aggression against the European security system and the entire world order, which was formed after World War II", - Oleksandr Turchynov said, stressing that this is exactly why the issue of sanctions should be seen "not as a temporary campaign but at least as the medium term perspective".
In his turn, Walter Stevens noted that the visit of the delegation of Committee, which consists of the ambassadors-representatives of all EU Member States, is intended to "demonstrate the unity and support for Ukraine".
"We fully support the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. And by no means we will recognize the annexation of the Crimea and we'll do everything possible to help Ukraine in the struggle against the aggression", - he stated.
