The NSDC Office discussed the issue of controlling the entry of foreign citizens into Ukraine

20240813.jpegOn Tuesday, 13 August, the NSDC Office held an interagency meeting chaired by NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Lytvynenko to discuss the status of implementation of NSDC decisions aimed at strengthening control over the entry into and exit from Ukraine of foreigners and stateless persons and their compliance with the rules of stay in Ukraine.

During the meeting, in order to strengthen border and migration control, as well as the counterintelligence regime during martial law, it was proposed to identify and approve a list of countries that have a visa-free regime with Ukraine, whose citizens will be required to submit an e-notification (electronic notification) of their intention to enter Ukraine in accordance with the established procedure.

The participants of the meeting noted that the need to adapt Ukrainian legislation to EU legislation by developing and submitting to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine a draft law on the introduction of a system of e-notification of intention to enter Ukraine for citizens of countries enjoying the right to enter Ukraine without a visa is of great importance.

The meeting also discussed the creation of a preventive mechanism for banning the entry into Ukraine of foreigners whose stay in the country is undesirable for reasons of national security.
