Interagency Working Group on Preparation of Proposals for Budgetary Financing of the Security and Defence Sector Established in the NSDC Office

According to the Order of the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksii Danilov dated 3 January 2024, an Interagency Working Group was established in the NSDC Office to prepare proposals for budget financing of the security and defence sector.

According to the First Deputy Head of the NSDC Office Serhii Herbeda, the purpose of this Group is to ensure timely and high-quality preparation of materials for the NSDC meetings to consider proposals to the draft Law of Ukraine “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2025” and the Budget Declaration for 2025-2027 on the items related to ensuring the national security and defence of Ukraine.

Colonel-General Ruslan Khomchak, First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, was appointed as the Head of the Interagency Working Group.

The Working Group includes representatives of all entities of the security and defence sector of Ukraine, the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance and specialised services of the NSDC Office.

Based on the results of the Group’s work, materials for consideration to the Council’s meetings on the said matters shall be submitted to the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine within the timeframe established by law.

For reference: According to the Law of Ukraine “On the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine”, the NSDC of Ukraine shell resolve on the State Budget of Ukraine and proposals to the Budget Declaration on the items related to the national security and defence of Ukraine.

The Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine shall submit proposals and draft decisions on these matters to the NSDC of Ukraine.
