NCCC hold two-day cybersecurity competitions INCIDENT RESPONSE DAYS 2.0
On 16-17 October 2023, National Coordination Centre for Cybersecurity (the “NCCC”) at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, and CRDF Global in Ukraine with support from the U.S. Department of State held two-day cybersecurity competitions INCIDENT RESPONSE DAYS 2.0 with the participation of more than one hundred subject-matter state experts organised into 22 teams.
INCIDENT RESPONSE DAYS is an event that combined cybersecurity competitions and cybersecurity trainings, cyber incidents response and forensics. During 6 hours, the participants were working under a unique scenario, investigating incidents, collecting artefacts and analysing a malware.
“Responding to cyber incidents is one of the topmost holistic components of cybersecurity system, as any incident needs to be detected, quickly localised, and evidence – recorded. That is why it has been the second time this year, we are holding INCIDENT RESPONSE DAYS having combined both training and CTF.
Besides, special attention was paid to communications between the representatives of cybersecurity actors and state bodies, as teamwork skills are essential for a high-quality and timely response to cyber incidents”, – said Serhii Prokopenko, Head of the NCCC Support Service of the NSDC Office.
The event was aimed to upgrade qualifications of cybersecurity specialists and improve their professional skills by performing tasks as close as possible to real incidents. The participants were working under a unique scenario, investigating incidents, collecting artefacts and analysing a malware. The tasks were performed at unitrange.com, a new generation Ukrainian cyber training range.
Also, the participants of INCIDENT RESPONSE DAYS 2.0 were trained on secure use of artificial intelligence technologies, digital forensics, and cyber threat information exchange practices.
Technological partners of the event were Cyber Unit Technologies and CyberLab.
