Ukraine and the EU to enhance information exchange on cases of circumvention of sanctions against russia

Head of the Staff of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Ziuz met with the European Union delegation headed by the EU Special Representative for the Implementation of Sanctions David O'Sullivan on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

During the meeting, among other things, the parties discussed the strengthening of sanctions regimes against russia by Ukraine and international partners.

Andriy Ziuz thanked the EU countries for their active and consistent support of Ukraine, noting that the EU sanctions packages against russia bring our country's victory in the war closer.

Head of the Staff emphasized that after russia's large-scale military invasion of our country, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposed sanctions on 11,072 people by its decisions, which were put into effect by the Decrees of President of Ukraine.

At the same time, David O'Sullivan emphasized that democratic values and strong state institutions are important factors for Ukraine's future development. He assured that the EU would support our country on its way to these aspirations.

The parties agreed to synchronize sanctions against russia and to strengthen the exchange of information on cases of circumvention of sanctions, in particular in areas related to the production of weapons and military equipment. It is also envisaged to strengthen the provisions against circumvention of sanctions, including the application of secondary sanctions to persons who help to circumvent them.
