The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine considered a number of topical issues of state security at its meeting on Friday.
In particular, the NSDC of Ukraine decided to apply personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) to a number of individuals and legal entities.
Proposals to apply sanctions to 79 legal entities and 10 individuals were submitted to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine by the Security Service of Ukraine.
“Today, for the first time in the history of Ukraine, personal sanctions have been introduced, in particular assets and property of persons who, according to the Security Service and the National Security and Defense Council, can be called the top ten Ukrainian smugglers were blocked. I want to emphasize that the fight against smuggling will be continued, today it is the top ten, but certainly not the last, - said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his address. - In addition, dozens of customs officials were suspended from duty. We are also preparing legislative changes, which will result in the criminalization of inaccurate customs declarations”.
During the meeting, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation Polina Lysenko made a presentation on the purpose, objectives and principles of the Center, which was established pursuant to the Presidential Decree of March 11, 2021, as a working body of the NSDC of Ukraine.
“The work of the Center becomes even more relevant due to the intensification of Russia’s special information operations aimed at destabilizing the internal political situation in our state, - Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov noticed. - We have seen such an intensification recently, therefore the relevant analysis is being carried out and response measures are being worked out”.
“The Center, established on the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will become a powerful hub for strategic communications and an information shield for Ukraine from external aggressive influences”, - he said.
