Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Solovyov held a working meeting with leading Ukrainian epidemiologists and infectionists

On March 18 this year, a working meeting with leading experts was held at the Staff of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine under the chairmanship of Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksiy Solovyov. The parties discussed the current situation with the spread of the new coronavirus in Ukraine, as well as the organization of the treatment process.

Mr. Solovyov stressed the need to urgently address the issue of ensuring the biological and social protection of health care workers. According to him, the world experience of organizing transportation of doctors from home to workplaces, their social support, organization of rest, etc. should be introduced in Ukraine.

Moreover, the parties discussed the use of non-medical drugs for the treatment of COVID-19 cases, the practical use of which has shown effective results in other countries of the world. The State Expert Center, together with specialists of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, were tasked to elaborate on the international treatment protocols of COVID-19 and consider their possible adaptation to the Ukrainian legislation.

As a result of the meeting, a letter was sent to all regional state administrations regarding the consideration to place doctors in hotels, hostels, etc., their transportation to workplaces and providing their family members with the necessary assistance.

In addition, the participants of the meeting considered changes to the doctor’s algorithm and the route of the patient suspected of having a COVID-19 coronavirus, in particular, to optimize the patient’s clinical route falling into COVID-19 case definition and minimize the risks to life and health of family doctors.
