Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the importance of military chaplains to strengthen the spiritual and patriotic foundations of the Ukrainian army. The parties paid particular attention to the necessity to adopt the Law of Ukraine "On military chaplain service", which should be considered the next plenary week, and discussed its main provisions.

According to the NSDC Secretary and the Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, the activity of military chaplains that are close to the soldiers should be legislatively regulated in order to provide them with conditions of service and social guarantees.

According to Mr. Turchynov, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine "does a lot to maintain the spirit of our fighters at the front line". "Your assistance at the front is extremely valuable and needed", - the NSDC Secretary said expressing his gratitude to His Beatitude Metropolitan for the work of the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

In his turn, His Beatitude stressed that "the Ukrainian Church and the army will further be united in counteracting aggression against our country".
