Russian secret services have proceeded to organizing terrorist activities in the Ukrainian territory, - Oleksandr Turchynov

Russian secret services have proceeded to the new phase of hybrid war in Ukraine - political terrorism. This was said in the comment of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov on the attempted assassination of people's deputy of Ukraine, member of the Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko.

According to Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine, thanks to the professional actions of the SSU, it became possible to prevent the assassination of the deputy. "Preliminary information allows to suggest that the attempted assassination was connected with Mr. Gerashchenko's professional activity and the exposure of the Russians involved in crimes in the occupied territory of Ukraine", - Mr. Turchynov pointed out.

Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine added that, unfortunately, it is not the only case of terrorist activities organized by Russian secret services in the Ukrainian territory, which are being investigated by the SSU and the National Police.

Oleksandr Turchynov noticed that to organize terrorist attacks, Russian secret services are creating an agent network consisting of the criminals and militants who fought in the Russian hybrid army in Donbas. "Their special training and preparation are carried out in the territory of the Russian Federation as well as in the occupied territory of Ukraine', - he said.

The NSDC Secretary underscored that Russian secret services assign the established terrorist network with the task to kill political and public figures, representatives of the media "with a view to instilling fear, creating chaos and destabilizing the situation in Ukraine to break the Ukrainians' willingness to resist military aggression of the Russian Federation".

According to him, the responsibility for the use of secret services to organize terrorist activities "lies entirely on the political leadership of the Russian Federation, who has transformed its country into the center of global terrorism".

"Ukraine will prosecute at law and demand, including through international institutions, the extradition of all criminals involved in organizing terrorist activities in our territory, who are screening themselves behind the identity documents of Russian secret services in the territory of the Russian Federation. We will strictly prevent any actions that threaten the lives of Ukrainian citizens", - Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine summarized.
