Oleksandr Turchynov: Implementation of the missile program is a way to ensure reliable protection of our country

The paradigm of the development of the modern world, accompanied by a steep increase in the number and scale of armed conflicts, caused a significant expansion of demand for high-quality weapons, including those of Ukrainian production.

In his interview with the "UNIAN" news agency, Oleksandr Turchynov stated that today Ukraine recovers its presence on arms markets and regains previously lost positions. "Ukrainian defense industrial complex should become not only a powerful stimulus for industrial growth but also capable of ensuring a significant increase in foreign exchange earnings of our budget", - he said. According to Mr. Turchynov, development of the defense industry stimulates the country's economy through enhancing cooperation, improving technologies, and creating new jobs.

Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine stressed that domestic defense industrial enterprises produce a broad range of weapons and military equipment that meet the NATO standards - from pistols and machine guns to armor and powerful defense systems. "We need to arm ourselves in such a way that no rearming will be required and that our weapons are not inferior to the best world standards", - Oleksandr Turchynov noted.

"The economy and politics should have a clear priority - the priority of protection and defense of our country. It should be understood in the parliament. They should not measure themselves in ratings and empty promises, not compete in slinging mud at each other, but focus on the defense and security of Ukraine. Everything else comes from the evil one", - Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine noticed.

Mr. Turchynov also emphasized the importance of large-scale investment in the technical upgrade of the production. According to him, the competition in foreign arms markets and reliable protection of the country in the absence of an effective system of collective security in Europe and the world are impossible without the new technologies as well.

Among the crucial tasks of the rocket and missile engineering, the NSDC Secretary named the recovery of the missile shield our country, stressing that recently successful launches of the missiles of Ukrainian production, which by their characteristics surpass the Russian analogs significantly, were conducted. "Implementation of the missile program is a way to ensure reliable protection of our country. Very promising developments, which will allow Ukraine to return the lost missile market leadership, are currently in work", - he said.
