Oleksandr Turchynov: The country needs effective solutions, not idle talk

We need effective solutions that will help us to resource defense budget of the country, and not idle talk, which has been conducted over it in the Parliament for already half a year. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Oleksandr Turchynov when he was answering the questions of journalists on Thursday after the end of celebrations on the occasion of presentation of the Battle Flag to the Rapid response brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.

"May became "black" for us because in a month we suffered the greatest losses over the last year. We lost a great number of heroes, a great many of injured, - he said. - All this admits that Russia is not going to carry out the peace settlement plan. Instead, they do everything to disrupt it. Moreover, the Kremlin is working out new military technologies and military schemes of land operations. They are increasing the number of professionally trained subversive units and the number of military provocations".

Mr. Turchynov also emphasized that the Russian-terrorist troops are actively using heavy weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements, including heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems. "This is not just the increase in the number of shellings. These are accurate shellings that are carried out using modern systems of guidance and correction of fire. In particular, recently, the enemy has been actively using unmanned aerial vehicles, including the combat ones", - he said.

"We are preparing an adequate response. This response should be the strengthening of the defense capacity of our country", - Secretary of NSDC of Ukraine stated.

Oleksandr Turchynov informed that at present Ukraine has already established the large-scale production of tactical unmanned aerial complexes, which carry out reconnaissance and fire adjustment, but for the time being, there is no large-scale production of operation-tactical and strategic unmanned aerial vehicles, including combat UAVs.  

 "The armed forces, - he noticed, - need effective combat unmanned aerial vehicles able to carry powerful air-to-ground missiles, to quickly find and destroy enemy targets".

Recently, he said, at the meeting with the military leadership and the leadership of the defense industry, the task to significantly change the parity of forces by establishing the production of the most promising unmanned aerial vehicles, capable to immediately find the target and conduct surgical strikes of the enemy, was set.

Furthermore, according to Secretary of the NSDC, the designers must develop the effective means of fighting enemy UAVs.

Among the most urgent problems, Mr. Turchynov named the lack of financing of the State defense order. "The Parliament has been conducting idle chatter for half a year instead of making a decision that would allow transferring the seized money of Yanukovych and his allies to the defense budget, ensuring the production and passing of new military equipment and weapons to the army. The country needs effective solutions, not idle talk", - Secretary of the NSDC summarized.
