First Deputy to Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleg Hladkovskiy and the Secretary-General of the National Security Council of the Republic of Turkey Seyfullah Hacimüftüoğlu signed the Protocol on cooperation between the Staff of NSDC of Ukraine and General Secretariat of the National Security Council of the Republic of Turkey aimed at intensification of cooperation in security and defense areas.

The Protocol was signed following the results of the Fifth meeting of the High Level Strategic Council between Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey, which took place under the chairmanship of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on March 9 this year.

Presidents of Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey have signed a number of documents, including a joint Declaration on deepening of strategic partnership between Ukraine and Turkey. The Head of Ukrainian state called the decision on deepening of strategic alliance between Ukraine and Turkey, in particular, on cooperation in security and defense areas, a key achievement of the Fifth meeting of the Strategic Council.
