Oleksiy Danilov: Events in Belgorod region will not affect the security situation in Ukraine

The events in the Belgorod region after the entry of russian paramilitary groups - the russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of russia Legion - will not affect the security situation in Ukraine, as these are internal affairs of the russian federation. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov during a national telethon on Suspilne TV channel on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

The NSDC Secretary noted that russian citizens have "every right" to liberate their native land with arms: "russian citizens have the right to protest. This is written in russian legal documents".

At the same time, he expressed surprise that the events in the Belgorod region caused "deep concern" in the kremlin, calling the accusations of the russian federation against the Armed Forces of Ukraine nonsense.

Instead, the NSDC Secretary predicted that residents of other regions of russia, who are "categorically opposed" to the putin regime, may initiate permanent protests. "Moreover, I am sure that until we win, these processes will take place constantly," Danilov said.
