The 15th meeting of the National Cyber Security Cluster was held on the topic "Current state, challenges and prospects for the implementation of the Cyber Security Strategy at the local level"

On October 27, 2022, the 15th meeting of the National Cyber Security Cluster on the topic "Current state, challenges and prospects for the implementation of the Cyber Security Strategy at the local level" was held in Vinnytsia, organized by the National Coordination Center for Cyber Security under the NSDC of Ukraine together with the US Civilian Research and Development Fund with the support of the State US Dept.

About 200 participants from the public and private sectors, representatives of international institutions and the scientific community joined the discussion of current regional needs in the industry - in online and offline format. Among them are representatives of the National Cyber Security Center of Great Britain, Vinnytsia City Council, Vinnytsia Oblenergo JSC, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, and the Vinnytsia IT Association.

Opening the meeting, Serhiy Prokopenko, Head of the Department for Ensuring the Activities of the NCCC of the NSDC Apparatus of Ukraine, noted that the Presidential Decree implementing the Plan for the Implementation of the Cybersecurity Strategy of Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as the Strategy) provides for reporting on its implementation.

"Because of the war, this year's rate of implementation of the Strategy is 49%. At the same time, the main subjects of ensuring cyber security fulfill tasks by approximately 80%, and the rate of their implementation at the regional level and among other cyber security subjects is about 40%, he said. - Therefore, the main goal of the event is to discuss problematic issues that arise during the implementation of the Strategy at the regional level."

CRDF Global Operations Manager Mykhailo Verych reminded that the Strategy begins with the thesis: "Safe cyberspace is the key to the successful development of the country." Now, according to him, it is extremely important to pay special attention to cyber security, because the cyber component is a prerequisite for the stability of the national security system of Ukraine, and the role of each player both at the national and regional levels is important.

Cluster participants discussed the current state of implementation of the Strategy at the local level and the main challenges and threats, taking into account russian aggression in cyberspace. A number of initiatives and projects aimed at increasing the level of cyber security of Ukraine and strengthening cooperation between the state, the academic community, the private sector, etc. have been proposed.
