The energy terror of the Russian Federation makes it necessary to expand cooperation with international partners in matters of energy security

The Head of the Staff of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Ziuz took part in a meeting with representatives of the United Nations Development Program held at the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

The meeting held by the Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine for European Integration, Yaroslav Demchenkov, was attended by Acting Director of the Regional Office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for Europe and the CIS, Maryna Walter, acting the permanent representative of UNDP in Ukraine, Manal Fouani, representatives of the structural divisions of the Ministry of Energy, the NSDC Staff and the UNDP Representative Office in Ukraine.

During the meeting, it was discussed about the implementation by UNDP and the Ministry of Energy of the new Program for the recovery of the energy sector and strengthening its sustainability.

Yaroslav Demchenkov thanked the UN Development Program for its active position in supporting the Ukrainian energy sector during the war and for the assistance provided before the war in the implementation of the energy transition.

The success of cooperation between UNDP and individual state companies in the preparation and implementation of joint projects for the restoration of objects damaged during hostilities was noted.

The parties agreed that work to support the energy sector will be strengthened within the framework of the new Ukraine Energy Sector Recovery and Resilience-Building Program.

Speaking about the results of the meeting, the Head of the NSDC Staff A. Ziuz emphasized that in the conditions of energy terror in the russian federation, deepening cooperation with international partners in matters of energy security and rebuilding the destroyed critical infrastructure of Ukraine, quick response to any incidents are extremely urgent.

He reminded that the NSDC Staff and the UNDP in Ukraine will also cooperate in the field of reconstruction of the destroyed critical infrastructure of Ukraine, which is recorded in the Memorandum of Understanding. The parties will develop cooperation in assessing the damage caused to the infrastructure of Ukraine by the aggression of the russian federation, developing a response strategy, implementing measures to restore it, etc.
