The National Defense Hackathon will be held in Ukraine

Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Serhiy Demedyuk held a meeting on organizing the National Defense Hackathon.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleg Hayduk, the head of the department for ensuring the activities of the NCCC of the specialized service of the NSDC Staff of Ukraine Serhiy Prokopenko, representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the private sector.

Opening the meeting, the Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine noted that the defense hackathon is organized by the Ministry of Defense in cooperation with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the NCCC with the support, in particular, of partners from the USA.

S. Demediuk emphasized the importance of taking measures to increase the level of cyber security of Ukraine and strengthen cooperation between the state, the academic community and the private sector.

"Ukraine needs to increase the level of cyber defense, preparation not only for the protection of military and critical infrastructure, but also for a possible counterattack against the enemy if necessary," he said. - We are gradually learning to fight, to attack, and to make changes to the legislation in order to protect both the military and citizens from such threats."

The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine stated that this year's hackathon is extremely important considering the fact that the war is ongoing in Ukraine. "We see that the prerequisites for hostilities taking place on the territory of our state are cyber attacks. Cyber attacks are aimed at the civilian sector - energy, communications, financial and government institutions, etc. Therefore, it is very important to rally people who are engaged in defense and cyber defense of the state around the issue of ensuring cyber security," said O. Hajduk.

The National Defense Hackathon is expected to take place this fall.
