The NCSCC is holding a two-day online training “Using OSINT and OT tools to ensure cybersecurity and counter disinformation”

The National Cybersecurity Coordination Center at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Cyber Unit Technologies, and CRDF Global are conducting a two-day online training for cyber specialists in healthcare, energy, line ministries and agencies “Using OSINT and OT to ensure cybersecurity and counter disinformation”.

The purpose of the training is to study the tools used by hackers, which will help cyber experts effectively counter criminals in cyberspace.

On the first day of the training, cybersecurity experts gained knowledge of OSINT-based intelligence methods, namely: information collection techniques and OSINT tools; modern threat pictures, security standards, and protected OT architectures; cybersecurity management systems (CSMS) for OT environments, incident response and recovery for business continuity.

The practical part took place in the format of CTF competitions: the first task was to find a developer of the “Diia” app clone based on updated theoretical skills; the second task was to find vulnerabilities and penetrate a hypothetical corporate network of a pharmaceutical company that, according to legend, develops vaccines against COVID-19.

Head of the Service for Supporting the NCSCC at the NSDC Staff Serhiy Prokopenko noted that one of the key tasks set by the Cybersecurity Strategy of Ukraine is to improve the skills of specialists in critical infrastructure. According to him, the NCSCC has conducted training events for more than 1200 specialists this year, and “has ambitious plans for the next year”.

More than 70 specialists took part in the training, and the winners and the most active participants will have the opportunity to further improve their skills and receive a prestigious certification from the SANS Institute.

Cyber Unit Technologies cybersecurity experts performed as trainers: Yehor Aushev - CEO of the company, Vadym Shovkun – one of the best ethical hackers in Ukraine, Marina Krotofil – ICS/SCADA international security specialist, and others.
