At a meeting on Friday chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine considered the issue of deepening Ukraine’s integration into NATO and heard reports on the implementation of its previous decisions.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov announced this at a briefing after the meeting, noticing that the agenda included eight issues.

According to him, a unanimous decision was made following the discussion of urgent measures to deepen Ukraine’s integration into the North Atlantic Alliance, which was considered secretly.

Moreover, the issue of the security situation on the administrative border with the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Donetsk regions was considered secretly. “This is the President’s order, which he gave on April 27, while in Kherson, - to work out, to take additional steps to ensure security on those territories. – Mr. Danilov said. - The decision was made unanimously”.

The NSDC adopted a report on the results of the review of the national system for combating terrorism, and also decided to expand the network of situational centers operating in the security and defense sector.

Among other things, the NSDC discussed the development of the aircraft industry in the coming years and sending of a national contingent for Ukraine’s participation in the United Nations Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Reports on the implementation of previously adopted decisions were also heard.

In particular, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on the implementation of the NSDC decision of May 14, 2021, on the application of personal special restrictive sanctions. At the same time, Mr. Danilov emphasized that a thorough check is carried out on each participant of the sanctions lists.

The report on the implementation of a protocol order on the need to regulate the use of state-owned facilities in Koncha Zaspa and Pushcha-Vodytsya was also heard.

The NSDC will also check the data of 134 Ukrainian citizens against whom U.S. sanctions have been imposed, and the relevant decisions will be made if necessary.

The issue of the draft law “On the Prevention of Threats to National Security Related to the Excessive Influence of Persons Who Have Significant Economic or Political Weight in Public Life (Oligarchs)” was discussed.
