The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov: today the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted highly important for security and defense sector document – the Law of Ukraine “On Intelligence”

"Today the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law "On Intelligence". This is a highly important document for the security and defense sector, taking account the serious changes in the external security environment, including the ongoing Russian aggression and the emergence of new external threats to our country.

The Law has created a legal framework for strengthening the intelligence capabilities of the state. The list of intelligence agencies is clearly defined. The legal and organizational framework of functioning of intelligence community subjects are improved, efficiency of their interaction, and also providing social and legal protection of employees of intelligence bodies was increased. The norms of democratic civilian control over the intelligence community activities have been expanded.

I am convinced that we will create an effective and modern intelligence system which will correspond to the nature and scale of current threats to Ukraine's national security, will timely allow detecting, preventing and neutralizing such threats, and will provide the country’s leadership with quality intelligence information to make strategic decisions in national  security of Ukraine sphere", - O. Danilov said.
