To journalists’ concern: Fake, - Press Service of the NSDC of Ukraine

Today, several media placed information referring to the former People's Deputy of Ukraine Dmitro Kryuchkov, who said that in 2014, a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine took place, where a decision was made so that "Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov instructed the Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine to hold a competition among the companies on import of electricity".

In this regard, we must report the following.

On November 4, 2014, a meeting of the NSDC of Ukraine indeed took place, and the decision made during this meeting "On the state of ensuring the state's energy security and urgent measures for the sustainable conduct of the heating season in 2014/15" was put into effect by the Decree of the President of Ukraine of November 14, 2014.

At the same time, we would like to emphasize that the decision did not task the Ministry of Fuel and Energy to hold any competitions, as it is out of the competence of the NSDC of Ukraine.

In addition, at the time of this meeting of the NSDC of Ukraine on Energy (November 4, 2014), Oleksandr Turchynov held the post of Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and not the Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine, as Mr. Kryuchkov argued, and accordingly could sign neither NSDC decisions nor any orders that could follow from this decision. Oleksandr Turchynov took the post of the Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine on January 15, 2015, after the parliamentary mandate was drawn up.
