Christmas celebration took place on Sofiyska Square in Kyiv
During the celebration on Sofiyska Square, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko addressed the audience with video greeting. Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevhen Nyschuk and people's deputies of Ukraine delivered greeting address from the stage.
On the initiative of the Protestant churches, Christmas celebration was held on Sofiyska Square on Sunday, December 24th, together with Europe and the whole world (except Protestants and Catholics, 11 of the 15 Orthodox churches celebrate Christmas on December 25).
For the second year in a row, Ukraine officially celebrates Christmas on December 25th.
