Greetings of Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov on the occasion of the International Volunteer Day

Dear friends, I congratulate you on the Volunteer Day!

It is impossible to overstress the value of the volunteer movement which has gained unprecedented scales over the last three years and actually became the foundation of civil society.

You were at the forefront among the concerned citizens who helped the participants of the Revolution of Dignity. Thanks to your round-the-clock work, it was warm inside the Maidan tents that severe winter, hundreds of thousands of people were fed and received warm clothes.

But the volunteer movement showed its worth the most significantly and importantly when the war began. By their sacrificial work, together with the volunteer fighters, they rescued the country in 2014 while the Ukrainian army was emerging from desolation. Civil society manifested a remarkable ability to consolidate and mobilize taking the responsibility for solving the most pressing problems of the military, refugees from the occupied territories, and the release of prisoners.

The high level of public confidence is the best estimate of the activities of the volunteers who shouldered the responsibility for the future of the state.

Thank you for your daily sacrifice, invaluable contribution to the revival of the Armed Forces, the support of our military and care for those disadvantaged! I wish you persistence, inspiration, and good health!
