Training exercises of the personnel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine took place

On the Day of Rescue Worker, in the territory of the SE "Mobile Rescue Center" training base, a demonstration of capabilities of fire and rescue forces during emergency relief operations took place.

Training exercises were attended by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, Chief of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Mykola Chechyotkin and others.

The aim of the exercises, which attracted around 250 people from the SES personnel, 50 units of rescue vehicles and 4 units of aviation equipment, was to work out practical actions of the SES forces during emergency relief operations of various nature. Together with the SES units, the exercises were also attended by ambulance crews of the State Service for Disaster Medicine with specialized equipment.

The rescuers demonstrated to the President, the Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine, heads of ministries and departments the modern machinery and equipment used by the SES, the mobile field hospital and the field camp, deployed in accordance with international standards. According to Oleksandr Turchynov, training exercises were held at the highest level: "High professionalism of the rescuers and new samples of effective specialized equipment were demonstrated".

The NSDC Secretary stressed that in the fight against accidents, catastrophes, and natural disasters rescue workers always show the best human qualities: exceptional courage and self-sacrifice. "They save people from fires, ruins and floods, they overcome obstructions and snow drifts. This year alone, over 50.000 fires were stifled, lives of over a thousand citizens were saved", - Mr. Turchynov noticed.

President of Ukraine awarded the rescuers with state awards and orders for 10 apartments. Today, Mr. Poroshenko also signed the Decree "On the insignia of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine" which approved the emblem and flag of the SES and the standard of the Chief of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
