Oleksandr Turchynov: We should apply a new paradigm: intelligence versus brute force, persuasion versus malice and cruelty

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov visited NTUU "KPI" on Thursday, where he took part in the presentation of new military equipment and weapons, developed by the Innovative-Production Association "Kyiv Polytechnic", which was established with the support of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the management of State Concern "Ukroboronprom" in September last year.

"We should apply a new paradigm: intelligence versus brute force, persuasion versus malice and cruelty, - NSDC Secretary of Ukraine stated. - And exactly this paradigm will lead us to victory".

Mr. Turchynov noted that Ukraine, which is struggling for its freedom and independence, for the right to choose its own path of development by itself, is supported by all civilized countries. At the same time, he stated that, "unfortunately, during these two years, we have been unable to restore effective military-technical cooperation with the strategic partners". "We still have the "Munich Syndrome" in action, when the thesis "do not irritate aggressor", which has led to the bloody events during the Second World War, again affects the minds of many politicians", - NSDC Secretary of Ukraine said.

He emphasized that exactly for this reason Ukraine, reviving the Armed Forces and military formations under conditions of war against a strong brutal aggressor, has to rely solely on its own capabilities. "And that is exactly why our main priority became the revival of the Defense Industry Complex. Precisely Defense Industry Complex of Ukraine ensures today the basic needs of the Army, National Guard and other military formations in weapons and military equipment, - Oleksandr Turchynov said. - We have no other alternative to this path". NSDC Secretary of Ukraine also declared that today "the struggle for victory is taking place not only on the battlefield". "It takes place in research institutions, design offices, at production site of defense enterprises. The country needs a modern new powerful weapon, which will defend Ukraine from any aggressor, will stop and destroy him and protect the lives of our citizens, - he said, adding that just such a task we put before scientists, designers, managers of defense enterprises.

In this context Oleksandr Turchynov highly appreciated the potential of NTUU "KPI" and the Innovative-Production Association "Kyiv Polytechnic", which was created, in his words, "to accelerate the development, drafting and manufacturing of new types of weapons, military equipment and so on".

NSDC Secretary of Ukraine noted that under the auspices of the "Kiev Polytechnic" "young scientific potential, new radical ideas along with experienced manufacturers, orderers, main of which is the Ministry of Defense, were consolidated". Mr. Turchynov stressed on the importance of state support of young scientists, designers, process engineers, ensuring the opportunities for their self-fulfillment in Ukraine. "It is very important to provide the opportunity for self-fulfillment to talented young people, who dream to live in a European country, to create such a country exactly here - in Ukraine, - he said. - Focus on young and ambitious is a strategic direction of our activities".

In the course of the event, the Rector of NTUU "KPI" Mikhaylo Zgurovsky and specialists of Association "Kyiv Polytechnic" informed on the participation of the Association in the creation of modern high-tech samples of weapons and military equipment for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations.

In particular, they told about the industrial production of the first domestic unmanned aircraft complexes, creation of robotic platform for the military; development of new kinds of small arms and modern ammunition; development of technology of composite armor for the means of individual protection, elements of equipment and additional protection for combat vehicles; establishing the manufacturing in Ukraine of high-tech products for the military, which previously was being produced only in Russian Federation.

Experts described the development process of systems of detection of unauthorized interference in information and telecommunications networks, as well as special communication systems for tactical branch of military command.

The event was also attended by Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak and the Head of "Ukroboronprom" Roman Romanov, who signed the Memorandum on cooperation between NTUU "KPI" and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the State Concern "Ukroboronprom". Oleksandr Turchynov called the signing of these documents "a potent foundation for the realization of our strategic objectives".
