Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov had a meeting with Secretary General of the National Security Council of the Republic of Turkey Seyfullah Hacimuftuoglu

During the working visit to Turkey, a meeting of Secretary of NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov with Secretary General of the National Security Council of the Republic of Turkey Seyfullah Hacimuftuoglu took place.

The interlocutors discussed the question of cooperation between our states in the security and defense sector taking into account the challenges Ukraine and Turkey face today.

The consolidation of efforts in the fight against international terrorism and against the states that support it, in countering international organized crime and illegal migration, and coordination of the work of law enforcement agencies were also considered.

According to Oleksandr Turchynov, Ukraine and Turkey have a unique historical opportunity to unite the political-diplomatic, military-technical and economic resources for the effective and coordinated countermeasures against the destruction of the balance of forces in the Black Sea region. The fundamental step in this direction, in NSDC Secretary's opinion, is demilitarization and de-occupation of the Crimea.

"The development of bilateral relations and cooperation between our countries should take on a new quality", - Oleksandr Turchynov said, adding that deepening of cooperation in the military-technical field is the key task in the development of Ukrainian-Turkish strategic partnership.

To Secretary's General of the NSC of Turkey mind, "our states must play the major role in the formation of the effective system of collective security". "It is important for us to join the potentials of our countries, which, in its turn, can create a very effective synergy", - S. Hacimuftuoglu noted.
