At the meeting of NSDC the defense budget of Ukraine was considered, – NSDC press service

Today in the course of NSDC meeting the budget of the security and defense sector for 2016 was considered. Subsequent to the results of discussion, the Cabinet of Ministers was recommended to provide the level of expenditures for defense and security sector, in accordance with the National Security Strategy and Military Doctrine of Ukraine, in the amount of 5% of GDP. No less than 3% of the expenditures out of that 5% are envisaged for the defense sector.

Funding, provided from the general fund of State budget, will amount not less than 100 billion hryvnias, moreover, additional funding from special funds and attracting resources against state guarantees are planned.

Also the priority strategic military programs concerning development and manufacture modern weapons and military equipment were defined at the meeting for further inclusion of them to the State Defense Order for 2016. In the course of discussion of this issue, the participants stressed that the State Defense Order for 2016 will be approved without any delay immediately after the adoption of the Law "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2016" by the Parliament.

In addition, the issue on urgent measures to improve the system of Ukraine's air defense and developing of the aerospace intelligence was considered in a confidential regime.
