Oleksandr Turchynov: Russia confirms its status of the main menace in the world

Russia's intentions to increase its military budget for more than $ 4 billion is the exact evidence that Russian leadership is not going to stop its policy of military escalation and external aggression. Such was stated by NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov in comment.

According to him, the increase of Russia's military budget against the backdrop of economic crisis and the impoverishment of Russian population up to 48 billion dollars means that "Putin continues to transform Russia into a global military threat".

In so doing, Russia was defined as the main military threat not only in the National Security Strategy and the Military Doctrine of Ukraine, but similar positions are shared by our strategic partners", - he said, adding that in the priorities of the US National Military Strategy, which was adopted recently, aggressive policy of Russia took first place among the threats, "having outstripped the potential insecurities from international terrorism and such "democracies" as Iran and North Korea".

NSDC Secretary stressed that, considering the active military build-up of Russia, in Ukraine's budget for next year "the expenditures on security and defense sector should not be decreased, despite all the difficulties".

"Our task - to be ready to rebut the aggressor and to liberate the occupied territories, so we are obliged to provide the army with the most modern weapons and equipment, and our military - with a decent salaries", - he said.

Oleksandr Turchynov also announced that immediately after the final determination of the budget parameters by the Cabinet of Ministers, NSDC will approve the Defense Budget and State Defense Order.
