Greetings of NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov on the Day of Constitution of Ukraine

Today is not a just a day off, but one of the most important holidays of statehood in our country. Territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, security of citizen's life and health - that's what the Basic Law of our country refers to from the first pages.

Unity, unitarity of Ukraine and the inviolability of its borders cannot be questioned. After all, the Constitution clearly states: "The territory of Ukraine within its present border is indivisible and inviolable... The system of administrative and territorial structure of Ukraine is composed of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, regions, districts, cities, districts in cities, towns and villages..." That's what our Motherland's sons and daughters are fighting for now.

Certainly, many changes and steps to establish the state mechanism are yet to come. At the constitutional level we need to strengthen democratic institutions, reinforce the status of local government and deepen the unity of our country. First of all, the priority in Ukraine should be the protection of the constitutional rights of citizens. Inviolability of the law and equality of all before it - that will build us such Ukraine, where everyone feels free and protected, and where one would want to live.
