Oleksiy Danilov: Cooperation with NATO in cybersecurity should be enhanced
NATO and Ukraine should enhance cooperation in cybersecurity. Secretary
of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov
stressed this during a meeting with the delegation of the NATO Representation
to Ukraine headed by Alexander Vinnikov.
Mr. Danilov emphasized that cyberdefense is a priority issue for the
NSDC of Ukraine. According to him, cyberthreats from the Russian Federation are
extremely dangerous for both Ukraine and the Allies and Europe as a whole. "In
Ukraine, Russia is working out cyberattacks that can be directed against NATO
member states and the European Union in the future", - the NSDC Secretary
He noted that the current security challenges require non-standard
approaches and said that the experience gained by Ukraine in combating Russia's
hybrid aggression is useful for NATO member countries.
Mr. Danilov expressed his gratitude to the Alliance for the political
support of Ukraine in the "extremely severe situation of Russian aggression".
"We are confident that we will win this war", - the NSDC Secretary said. - This
is our country, and we will not give it to anyone".
The parties also discussed in detail the practical aspects of bilateral
cooperation, in particular, material, technical and advisory assistance
provided to Ukraine through NATO Trust Funds. The NSDC Secretary assured the
Head of the NATO Representation of the NSDC's readiness to intensify and
enhance such cooperation.
In his turn, Mr. Vinnikov stressed that the Alliance supports Ukraine's
sovereignty and territorial integrity and will continue to "work together for
the benefit of its Euro-Atlantic integration". According to him, NATO will
further assist our country both in the framework of NATO's Comprehensive Assistance
Package to Ukraine and in maintaining legislative support for security and
defense sector reform.
