Oleksandr Turchynov: The work of snipers of the Department of the State Guard in the ATO zone gave rise to a myth about the American Special Forces near Sloviansk
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine
Oleksandr Turchynov, on behalf of the President of Ukraine, congratulated the
personnel of the Department of the State Guard of Ukraine on the professional
holiday - the 27th anniversary of the establishment of the DSG and presented
state awards and certificates for apartments.
Addressing the DSG officers, Mr. Turchynov emphasized that in the times
of trying ordeals for our country - military confrontation, terrorist threats
and provocations, - the everyday work the DSG servicemen is an example of
patriotism, professionalism, everyday courage and heroism.
"You have chosen a profession that requires iron self-control and dedication
to your state! I am sincerely grateful for your courage, the will to win and
the devoted service to the country!", - he said.
The NSDC Secretary reminded that at the
beginning of Russia's hybrid aggression against our country, the DSG military
were among the first to stand up for Ukraine's defense. "In the spring of 2014,
the army was not yet ready for active defense of Ukraine: there was a lack of
clothes, weapons, ammunition, it was necessary to teach and arrange the combat
shakedown of the first wave of mobilization. Then, having reduced protection of
the state authorities to the critical level, I sent a combined unit of the DSG
military servicemen together with their head and sniper group to the East,
where they courageously and professionally destroyed hostile forces, stopped
their offensive. It was that time that the Russians had a legend about the
American Special Forces who had stopped the enemy near Sloviansk", - Mr.
Turchynov pointed out.
The NSDC Secretary expressed his conviction that the DSG servicemen "will
always remain an example of a conscientious and professional fulfillment of
military duty and service tasks and dedicated service to Ukraine", and presented state
awards and certificates for apartments.
