Andriy Parubiy: We will roughly preclude attempts to disrupt elections in Ukraine
The NSDC Secretary Andriy Parubiy urged presidential candidates avoid speculating on themes of national defense and security during the election campaign. He said this during his briefing at the Parliament.
"I appeal to the presidential candidates to relieve their rhetoric of mentioning separatism and changes to the state structure of Ukraine. Such rhetoric will be perceived as violation of the constitutional principles and will be roughly precluded by the present government. We have reasons to believe that some candidates will use external influences and could act as their agents in order to destabilize the situation in Ukraine", the Secretary said.
In order to safely conduct the elections, to avoid its disruption, to ensure the safety of the preparation and holding of presidential elections in Ukraine on May 25, 2014, the operation headquarters consisting of representatives from various ministries and agencies is being created on the initiative of the National Security Council. International experts, including those from the OSCE, as well as NGOs will also be involved to the work of the group.
"We will keep track of all the movements aiming at disrupting the elections and will be tough at precluding the attempts to disrupt the elections in Ukraine", Andriy Parubiy emphasized.
The NSDC Secretary added that there will be developed a plan of safe elections so that every voice would be heard and taken into account. He believes that the state has enough capabilities to prevent disruption of the elections and to hold fair and democratic elections.
